Meet Amanda Bulow

Amanda Bulow is a construction industry leader, speaker and founder of Awesome Women in Construction (AWIC), recognised for her impact in shaping Australia’s future construction workforce.

Amanda has been nominated for Australian of the Year 2026 and holds key leadership roles influencing the industry at a strategic level. She is a Board Director of the Building and Construction Industry (Portable Long Service Leave) Authority Board (QLeave), appointed by the Queensland Government, and contributes to workforce development and training outcomes through her Board involvement with Construction Skills Queensland.

With more than 24 years’ experience across procurement, estimating, sales and production, Amanda has built a reputation for improving business performance, identifying inefficiencies and delivering practical, commercially grounded solutions. Her deep understanding of how construction businesses operate — from site to strategy — underpins her ability to drive real outcomes across both organisations and individuals.

In 2017, Amanda founded AWIC with a clear mission: to create meaningful pathways, support networks and visibility for women across the construction industry — from trades and apprentices to leadership and business ownership.

Under her leadership, AWIC has grown into a recognised national organisation delivering:

  • large-scale events and programs engaging hundreds of attendees annually
  • career pathway initiatives through schools, TAFEs and industry
  • mentoring, training and workforce development programs
  • advocacy that challenges industry norms and drives cultural change

Amanda’s work sits at the intersection of industry, education and government, with a strong focus on increasing female participation, improving retention and supporting long-term career progression within construction.

As a speaker and facilitator, Amanda brings a rare combination of real industry experience, commercial insight and authentic storytelling. She is regularly engaged for keynote presentations, panels and workshops across Australia, speaking on topics including:

  • workforce challenges and future skills
  • women in construction and leadership
  • confidence, resilience and career pathways
  • business performance and operational efficiency

Known for her straight-talking, practical approach, Amanda connects with audiences at all levels — from apprentices to executives — delivering insights that are both relatable and actionable.
